The Leonard Stanley Sixes

TOURNAMENT GOES AHEAD DESPITE THE RAIN

Forty-eight teams competed in the Leonard Stanley six-a-side on Sunday July 22nd. In a summer where many events have fallen victim to the severe weather conditions- the committee, players and friends of Leonard Stanley Football Club pulled together to make sure this tournament would go ahead as planned. The effort was well worth it as the 41st consecutive competition proved a great success.

After 157 matches played accross eight pitches, Slimbridge overcame Harrow Hill 1-0 in a fiercely competed final, which took place exactly eight hours after the first kick-offs.

Special thanks go out from LSFC to the twelve referees, who kept things running smoothly, to all the teams who made the effort to turn up, especially those who had to overcome the flooding in other parts of the county and ofcourse all those who worked hard to make the day possible.
